Breakfast in America – Supertramp | Music Video

Breakfast in America by Supertramp came on the radio the other day when I was driving home in my car – what a great song!

Lyrics to Supertramp – Breakfast in America:
Take a look at my girlfriend
She’s the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend
Never seem to get a lot
Take a jumbo cross the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I´m hoping it´s going to come true
But there´s not a lot I can do
Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear
They got to have ´em in Texas
Cos everyone’s a millionaire
I´m a winner, I´m a sinner
Do you want my autograph
I´m a loser what a joker
I´m playing my jokes upon you
While there´s nothing better to do
Don´t you look at my girlfriend
She´s the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend
Never seem to get a lot
Take a jumbo cross the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I´m hoping it´s going to come true
But there´s not a lot I can do.

This is Breakfast in America performed by Supertramp without Roger Hodgson. Roger is the actual writer and composer of this song. Roger wrote this song on his own and later recorded it with Supertramp.

I love “Breakfast in America” from Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp! Just by coincidence I saw that this video of Roger performing his classic was posted on his Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/RogerHodgsonOfficial) yesterday – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iVv5tiimkg. No one can sing Roger’s songs like Roger. I saw him in concert earlier this year and cannot wait to see him again. What a show! His voice sounds even better today than on my Supertramp vinyls. In concert, Roger performs all the the classics he wrote and composed such as Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home, The Logical Song, Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, and so many more! Mnay people don’t realize that although Roger and Rick Davies, Supertramp’s other co-founder, shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own respective songs. Do not miss the chance to see Roger in concert. You will be comparing all of the other concerts to go against Roger’s show. He’s top of the list with a fantastic show.

I’m with you Kacey & Lucy – I’ve seen Roger myself about 4 times in the past year and just can’t get enough. There’s something so invigorating, rejuvenating and uplifting about his shows – he’s got so much energy, his voice resonates incredibly, sounding just like the originals if not better. By the night’s end I feel like I was taken along a winding musical journey, a full experience – and who knew he had such a unique sense of humor? I’ve never, ever seen a musician of his stature so warm, open and connected with the audience. He talked with us like we were close friends since forever…just one time of seeing him and you’re hooked for life (trust me, I know 🙂
